Bird Hill is more than a vineyard, it is our home, our passion, and a dream brought to life.
Built from the ground up by our family, every vine, every harvest, and every bottle reflects the care and dedication we pour into this place. While Brad and Elaine guide the vineyard each season, it truly takes a village. Our two boys can often be found exploring the rows, learning the rhythms of vineyard life, while family and friends step in during harvest to lend a helping hand.
What makes Birdhill special isn't just the wine, it is the people behind it, the landscape that nurtures it, and the sense of connection that runs through everything we do.

Meet Brad
Brad's winemaking journey began in Tasmania in 2006, where he developed a passion for cool-climate wine and viticulture. Over the following years, he expanded his experience across Tasmania, the Hunter Valley, and New Zealand, gaining valuable knowledge in vineyard management and winemaking.
After meeting Elaine in Marlborough, New Zealand, the pair shared a vision of creating their own vineyard. Brad later completed a Bachelor of Wine Science through Charles Sturt University while establishing Birdhill in Tasmania's Coal River Valley.
Today, Brad oversees the vineyard's viticulture and vineyard development, applying a hands-on approach to every stage of the growing process. His passion for cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is at the heart of Birdhill's wines, helping shape the character and quality of every vintage.
Meet Elaine
Originally from Ireland, Elaine graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a BSc in Food Technology before beginning her career at the iconic Guinness Brewery in Dublin. Her passion for wine soon led her across the world, working vintages in Tasmania, the Yarra Valley, Portugal, and New Zealand.
It was while working in Marlborough that Elaine met Brad, and together they embarked on a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of Birdhill Vineyards. Drawing on her extensive experience in wine production, food science and growing up in a family business, Elaine brings a unique perspective to both the vineyard and winery as well as in the business administration.
From propagating vines and planting the vineyard to helping craft Birdhill's wines, Elaine has played an integral role in every step of the journey. Her dedication to quality, sustainability, and attention to detail helps ensure every bottle reflects the character of Tasmania's Coal River Valley.
